Historical Cortege "S.Bernardino"

The Historical Cortege marches in Piansano during S. Bernardino party (20 May). The Sbandieratori Group can complete it, but the historical cortege is well known and appre-ciated for participating to numerous historical shows on its own.

How it was born ...
The HISTORICAL CORTEGE “S.  Bernardino” was born in Piansano, in 1989 from an idea of the then parish Priest Mon.  Aldo Bellocchio and for initiative of the Mrs. Angela De Simoni, Oliva Rizzo and Antonia Brizi, to recall an historical and fundamental event for the origins of our village.

It was the year 1550 about when the Cardinal Alessandro Farnese moved a considerable number of families from the Casentino area (Tuscany) to Piansano in order to give a new vital impulse to our small village. The inhabitants of Arezzo (the most important town in the Casentino area) carried with them their traditions and their customs, as well as their Patron: Saint Bernardino from Siena who became, since then, the patron of Piansano.
The Historical Cortege is the representation in customs of the historical period in which the Aretini moved to Piansano when, finally, after different dominations of varieties “Mister” for Piansano began a new era.

How it is composed ...

At the moment 70 people are part of the historical cortege “S.  Bernardino”.

They wear different kind of traditional customs; in fact, besides the ones used by the most influential Families that governed Piansano from 1250 to 1600, we can admire also some customs used by less noble categories, like populars, peasants, grooms, etc., to symbolize the reality of our humble local origins.

Customs

A meticulous work for historical research is giving us a deep insight of that historical period; and the fruit of our passion is evident also in the care to prepare our customs.
The dozens of customs that you can admire during the Parade, including the Musicians’ and the Flag-Wavers’, are made by our group tailors… a hard work that does not leave time to improvisation.
